The Resilience Waltz
Fall has arrived and little splashes of red, orange, and yellow are just starting to turn up on the mountains. The days were cool, and the nights were chilly during our last trip to Poor Valley Creek. It was perfect bonfire weather, so we took advantage of the opportunity to burn our ever-growing scrap pile of wood, cardboard, trees, and brush. We also savored a few warm and cozy sips of Dave’s homemade Swedish glögg and enjoyed spending a little downtime with a few friends and family throughout the course of our working weekend!
The Hunter Moon
One night before the full supermoon in Aries.
Our dear friends, Don, and Denise Paniconi were our next-door neighbors in Pennsylvania before their move to West Virginia, a little over a year ago. Dave and I were so grateful to have their help with all of the painting and for the opportunity to reunite with them for a couple of days. Denise even brought us some of her homemade oatmeal cookies and jars of pickles and peaches, yummy!
That Pregnant Glow
Dave and I are super proud of these two and cherish each and every opportunity we are able to spend time with them, especially since their move to Knoxville, TN, almost a year ago.
I must mention that we are ecstatically happy and eagerly await the arrival of our first grandbaby, due in late February!
Well into her second trimester, mama Dakota is glowing…and papa Taylor looks pretty radiant too; they are going to be excellent parents!
Continued prayers for a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery.
Fresh paint, new flooring, interior doors, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, toilets, and shower doors have dramatically improved the aesthetics of the house during this visit.
I’m not highlighting all the things that went wrong, nothing ever goes as smoothly as planned, but slowly and steadily, along with the help of many family members and friends, we are chipping away at what seems like our never-ending list of projects.
It is a bit of a waltz, or one step forward and two steps back! We’ll keep on dancing, we’ll continue to appreciate the journey, we’ll honor how far we’ve come, and we’ll arrive wherever our destiny takes us. I just love surprises!
