The Tennessee Trio

This marks the fifth working trip to our Poor Valley Creek property over the course of thirteen months. Each visit is a total of twelve hundred miles (six hundred each way) and most folks could not begin to fathom the amount of time, planning, preparation, physical labor, and money invested with each visit. It has truly been a test of endurance, perseverance, and patience!

I was not able to join David this time around but I sure am grateful he had some helping hands. He left on Saturday morning, the 11th, with his oldest son Taylor and his best friend Raymond; they worked Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, then made the return trip home on Wednesday, the 15th.

It was a productive three days, they ran over 1200’ of wiring, installed the main electric service panel and service entrance, framed two closets in the bedrooms as well as the ceiling (and storage space) over the kitchen area, installed a couple new outdoor light fixtures, installed two custom gable end windows, and finished the siding, facia, and soffit on the gable end of the house where the windows were installed.

We’ve made a ton of progress since our “Humble Beginnings” blog post but still have A LOT of work left in front of us.

Our next trip down will be early June and as always, we will make the most of our time and try to enjoy our journey each step of the way!

Until then, you can enjoy a few pictures and footage of its current state:
